She was 84 years old and a resident of New Orleans until 2007 when she moved to Hammond. Bootsie was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Mary Conrad Valentino, and sister Lorraine; beloved wife of the late Albert Joseph Herbert. She will be greatly missed by her son Michael M. Herbert and his wife Tana Feindel Herbert, and daughter Mary Elizabeth Herbert; loving grandmother to Lyndi (Arie) Gurevitch, Lori (Tony) Gaiotti, Michael M. Herbert, Jr. and Lani Michelle Herbert; great grandmother to Luca Anthony Valentino Gaiotti, and Ethan and Mila Gurevitch. She is also survived by her brother Melvin J. Valentino, Jr. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church until Hurricane Katrina and Catholic Daughters of America Court Mater Dei in New Orleans. Family and friends are invited to the visitation Wednesday, May 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. Margaret, Queen of Scotland Church in Albany. She was 87 and a native of St. Helena Parish. Visitation at Geisler Funeral Home Chapel, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services at First Presbyterian Church of Hammond at 3 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Dr. D. Cameron Murchison. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond. Survived by two daughters, Anna Herbert Farrell, Springfield, Va., and Joan Herbert Murchison, Decatur, Ga.; a son, Jack Durnin Herbert, River Ridge; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Farley Herbert. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hammond.
