HERRERA, DORIS ANN "RED" SLOCUM
Age 51, a native of Grand Isle and a 36 year resident of Independence, 
Doris passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at her residence. Doris was a 
devoted wife, mother and sister, who will be missed dearly.  She leaves 
behind her husband, David Parnell; children, Anthony Herrera, Jessica 
Parnell and David Parnell II; sisters, Emmer Dugas and husband Kernis, 
Lottie Jeanette Slocum; brother, Lloyd Slocum; father, Sam Hollis Slocum.
Doris was preceded in death by her mother, Mentoria Dillon.  Relatives and 
friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from the 
chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 
10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the 
funeral home on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and 
again on Thursday, from 8:00 a.m., until the funeral service time. The 
services will be conducted by Rev. Bob Simpson and interment will follow in 
Parnell Cemetery.  Condolences and other information are available online

Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.
