She was a native of Clinton. Douglas, II, Trinity D.R. Douglas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends, Ms. Hitchens received her elementary and high school education in St. Helena Parish. She attended Leland College in Baker, LA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She was employed with the St. Helena Council on Aging as Nutrition Coordinator. As a faithful servant on the Western New Orleans- Baton Rouge District Ms. Hitchens held the following positions, Chairperson of Finance Committee WNO-B Missionary Society, Chairperson WNO-B of Lay Organization Nominating Committee and Member of Nominating Committee of the Louisiana Conference Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents Ellen Tucker and John Hitchens, nine sisters and five brothers.
