He was a retired riverboat captain with approximately 58 years of service and retired from Bisso Bros. and the state of Louisiana. He was an avid fisherman on the Mississippi River and the youngest man to receive a masters license for a river boat pilot during his era. Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Hohensee Dedon of St. Francisville and Rhoda M. Hohensee Verret of Denham Springs; three sons, Albert J. Hohensee of Bossier City, Donald Paul Hohensee of Hammond and Donald Paul Hohensee of Pottsville, Ark.; two brothers, James Hohensee Sr. and Carrol Hohensee Sr., both of Denham Springs; 29 grand- children, numerous great-grandchilden and great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Etta Mae Dillinger Hohensee; two daughters, Lily Mae Hohensee and Estelle H. Stoner; and his siblings, William and Tillie Hohensee, Obedia Vicknair, Lois McCann and Ollie Gonzales; preceded him in death. Visitation will be today at Ourso Funeral Home, St. Francisville, from 5 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joe Goss will conduct the service. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 8/30/2007 HOHENSEE, TAMMY LYNN Tammy Lynn Hohensee, 35, native of New Orleans and resident of Pumpkin Center, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. She is survived by her husband John J. Hohensee; daughter, Kerri Phelps; son, Johnny Hohensee, Jr.; father, Tommy Wayne Albritton; mother and step-father, Priscilla Wool & Rory "Bubba" Strassel; and a brother and sister-in-law, Justin & Amie Guidroz Albritton. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hwy 190, west of Hammond on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home chapel beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service time of 11:00 a.m. Rev. Stacy Morgan will conduct the services. Interment will be in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G.
