Freda C. Holiday died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. She was 93, a native of Tangipahoa Parish and a resident of Franklinton. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Charles Brady and the Rev. Donnie Easley. Interment in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Mount Hermon. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and Eddie Strickland, Osyka, Miss., Bettye and Claude Smith, Ponchatoula, and Linda and E.H. Welch, Kentwood; 10 grandchildren, Sandy Vicknair, Cheryl Kirkland, Ronnie Smith, Terri Easley, Ramona McElveen, "Skipper" Crawford, Debbie Crawford, Darla Oliver, Holly Travis and Kenneth Velen; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred P. Claybaugh and Mary Price Lea; husband, Elton Holiday; son, James L. Holiday; grandson, James Holiday Jr.; great-grandson, Jake Kirkland; four brothers, Harold, David, Robert and Homer Lea Jr.; and three sisters, Alma Dykes, Faye Morris and Ida Sanders. She was an angel among mortals and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was also the oldest member of East Fork Baptist Church.
