She was a loving wife of forty-four years and a proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, John M. Holland; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi Holland Moody and Randy Moody and Wendi Holland Gray and Jim Gray; 4 grandchildren, Kayla Moody, Justin Gray, Mark Moody, and Alyssa Gray and loving grand-dogs. He was 76, a native of Independence and a longtime resident of Greensburg. Eugene is survived by his children, Denise and spouse Stormy Lee, Hammond, Chris and spouse Amy Holland, Kentwood, Toni Holland Fitzgerald and companion Jason Kirkland, Greensburg, and Daniel Holland, Amite; the pride and joys of his life, his grand- children, Rainey and Jacob Lee, Hammond, Shane, Whitney and Kaysey Holland, all of Kentwood, Morgan and Bubba Creel and Dixie Fitzgerald, all of Greensburg; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kelly and Annette Storey, Walker, and Jewel Hanley, Denham Springs; friend, Ellen Moore, of Amite; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Susie Barber Holland; his children's mother, Betty Holland; and numerous brothers and sisters. "Sheriff" was a friend to all who knew him. He was a proud member of Independence High School, Class of 1953. He served on the Greensburg Town Council, as St. Helena Parish Constable, District 3, a member of the St. Helena Parish School Board and was sheriff of St. Helena Parish for 12 years. He was also a logging contractor and cattleman before becoming sheriff. He retired from the United States Air Force after proudly serving our country in World War II, The Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was also a retired truck driver. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Irene Holland, son, Eric Earl Holland, both of Hammond; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Timmy Fabre, Ponchatoula. He was blessed with three grand- children, John Greenlee, Ponchatoula, Christie Greenlee, Madisonville and Erica Lynn Holland, Ponchatoula. His three great-grandchildren were his pride and joy; they are Blaine Greenlee, Bradley Greenlee and Braxton Greenlee, all of Ponchatoula. His brother, Col. Dan C.
