Age 71 and a resident of Hammond, Elizabeth passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Landmark Nursing Home. Elizabeth was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved sewing, cooking, making deserts and crocheting. Elizabeth leaves behind her daughter, Veronica ÒRonnieÓ Hopkins and husband Bobby Stubbs; son, Floyd E. Hopkins, Jr. and wife Lisa LeBourgeois, along with her grandchildren, Randy and Jessie McMorris, Leah Thames, Christopher LeBourgeois; great-grandchildren, Addyson Thames, Trey Reck, Caleb McMorris, Lillian Reck, Noah McMorris. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine A. Meneses; brother, Bruce Stewart and wife Beth Higginbotham, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Kentwood, she is survived by two daughters, Louvenia Carpenter of Chicago, and Louethel Hudson of Jackson, Miss.; two sons, Vernon Perry of Chicago and Vernell Perry of Leesville; one brother, Cornwallace Williams of Kentwood; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, David Walter Hopkins; her son, Justin David Hopkins; her mother and stepfather, Linda Brayden Haschak and Paul Haschak of Hammond; her father and stepmother, Mike and Paula Meiners of Mandeville; her sister, Lorraine Meiners-Lovel of Memphis, Tenn.; and her grandmother, Irma Thomas Meiners of Mandeville. Visitation will be Sunday at Welsh Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, from 6 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 and Monday from 9 a.m. until Mass at 10 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
