He is a resident of Kentwood, LA. Rita Nell Foster Horton, a resident of Amite, died at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Landmark Nursing Home, Hammond. She was 81, born Sept. 9, 1928, in Kentwood. She was the loving wife of Kermit Horton, and loving mother of Diane Mixon Zumwalt, Betty Mixon Woods, Darlene Mixon Howell, Cheryl Mixon Catt and Iley Tommy Mixon Jr. Also survived by sons-in-law, John Zumwalt, Larry Woods, Russel Howell and David Catt; 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; and brother, Sitman Foster. Preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Jewel Hutchinson Foster; father, Jesse D. Foster; three brothers, Henry, Carl and Jesse Reed Foster; and two sisters, Linda Hutchinson and Mona Foster. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 28. Visitation at First Baptist Church, Amite, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 3 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Mike Foster. Interment in Hutchinson Cemetery, Kentwood.
