Clara Ratcliff Hoskins, 92, a longtime resident of McComb, Miss., and a resident of Ponchatoula for six years, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Lincoln County and was a former resident of Lake St. John. She was the daughter of William Thomas Ratcliff and Margaret Magdeline Wilkinson Ratcliff. She was a member of Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Lincoln County and was a retired registered nurse, having worked at McComb City Hospital and McComb Infirmary. She was a member of the Illinois Central Railroad Engineers and Firemen's Association for Women. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, S.T. "Red" Hoskins; an infant son; five brothers, Alton Ratcliff, Fred Ratcliff, Steve Ratcliff, Decatar Ratcliff and an infant brother; and three sisters, Bertha R. Porter, Mae R. Smith and Willie Marie Hall. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Pam Hoskins of Moss Point, Miss.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda H. and Arthur Reid Netterville of Ponchatoula, and Launa H. and Harry Smith of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, James R. Hoskins Jr., Kenneth S. Hoskins, Whit Hoskins, Sherrod Guy Netterville, Alfred Walchak, Pete Walchak, Mendy Smith, Robyn Smith and Deena N. Wronkoski; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was at Catchings Funeral Home, McComb, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visitation at the funeral home chapel from noon until religious service at 2:30 p.m. Friday, with Elder Wayne Myers officiating. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Vail of Hammond, will be held today, Thursday, in Jackson, Miss. She died Tuesday night at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Major and Mrs. Harwell Davis in Birmingham, Ala., where she had been this past month. She is survived by three sons, Powell P. Vail of Hammond, Louis B. Hoskins of Alaska, and Edward B. Hoskins of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Harwell Davis of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Gregg Stokes of New Orleans, and Mrs. E. O. She was 52, a native of Independence and a resident of Kentwood, La. Susan is survived by her husband, Ray Hoskins; 4 children; 6 grandchildren; mother, Pearl A. Cozzo; 3 brothers, Mickey Mitchell and wife Debbie, James Mitchell and wife Mary & Danny Mitchell and wife Sandy; sister, Judy Franklin and husband Raymond; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her father, Dominick Cozzo; grandmothers, grandfathers, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
