James Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 7/27/2006 HOWARD, ELEANOR DOLORES AMBROSE Eleanor Dolores Ambrose Howard, a native of Larkspur, California, and longtime Hammond resident, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, having been active in the choir and Rosary Altar Society in past years. Eleanor was an artist whose artwork has hung at the Guaranty Gallery and is in homes and businesses across the area. She was co-founder of the Town and Country Art League, now the Hammond Art Guild, and served several terms as its president. The Agri-Dustrial Futurama was also among her community involvements. Eleanor was a warm, caring and loving mother, wife, sister and friend. She never met a stranger, and spread her sunny disposition, humor and joyful spirit to everyone she met. She will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl LaVere Howard; parents, Frank Murrey and Catherine Howard Ambrose; brother, William Ambrose; sisters, Alice A. Krogman, Kathleen A. Penninger, Anita A. Wilkey, and Rowena A. Winkler. Survived by daughter, Sheilah Catherine Howard and best friends, Mary McDonald and Betty Crisp.
