She was a native of Parkdale, Ark., and was a former resident of the Mt. Pleasant Community east of Hamburg, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hammond where she was secretary of the Beulah Sunday School class. She was also a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, the Mt. Pleasant Home Demonstration Club and a caretaker of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. She is survived by a son, Edward Howie of Start; one daughter, Carolyn Clark of Hammond; three brothers, Edward Caldwell of Mablevale, Ark., J.L. Caldwell of Van Nuys, Calif., and Carl Caldwell of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; four grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Howie; an infant son, Robert Howie; her parents, Edward and Kate Williams Caldwell; one sister, two brothers and one grandchild. The funeral will be Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at 10 a.m., and burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jerusalem Baptist Church Building Fund, 11109 Jerusalem Church Road, Hammond 70403, or to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association, c/o Howard Foster, P.O.
