HUFSTETLER, THOMAS JERRY "TOM" 
Thomas Jerry "Tom" Hufstetler, 76 and a resident of Hammond, died on 
Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Richard Murphy Hospice House. Born May 19, 1932, 
in Atlanta, Texas, Tom was the son of Thomas Zelmer "Zeb" and Addie Faye 
Hufstetler. He graduated from Atlanta High School. After serving in the 
U.S. Army, he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees at North Texas 
State University, Denton and also attended LSU. He married Sandra 
Pepperman on Aug. 31, 1968. Tom taught physics at Southeastern Louisiana 
University in Hammond from 1965 until he retired in 2000. In addition to 
his wife, Tom is survived by two children, Katherine Hufstetler Rose and
her husband, Bill, and Carolyn Hufstetler; his sister, Faye Hufstetler 
Boone; a niece and nephew. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. 
Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on 
Sunday, Nov. 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at Holy Ghost 
Catholic Church in Hammond on Monday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. until Mass of 
Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P., 
celebrant. Honorary pallbearers are William F. "Bill" Rose, J. Barton 
Pepperman, William A. Pepperman, Edwin France, Charles Sullivan and 
Joseph Tisdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 
Southeastern Development Foundation for the Thomas J. Hufstetler Fund, 
which will benefit the Department of Chemistry and Physics, SLU 10293,
