She was born in Kentwood and was the daughter of the late Howard A and Mattie Lee Schilling. Artemis began her long career as a beautician opening her first shop in the old Casa de Fresa Hotel. Over time she and her husband Fred Husser owned and operated FredŐs Florist and Artemis Beauty Shop and expanded to include a gift shop. Fred Husser preceded her in death and she later opened Artemis Bed and Breakfast and Art Gallery in Taos, New Mexico and finally ArtemisŐ Barn in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Artemis was a member of the Hammond Lioness Club, Hammond Garden Club and Hammond Art Guild. She had a zesty love of life and a natural instinct in creativity that she explored as a beautician, florist, painter and ball room dancer. She is survived by daughters Nita Murphy, Taos, New Mexico, Melida Brick, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, grandson Jordan Husser, New Orleans, sister Dorothy Bachemin, Covington and sister-in-law Lois Dowling of Hammond. Emile was born to Thomas Charles Husser and Lexie Althea Miller Husser in Washington Parish on July 28, 1933. He was a resident of Folsom, La. Emile was married to Sylvia Lucile Achee Husser for 55 years. Emile was a member of the Navy stationed on the USS Arnold J. IsBell during the Korean war. He was discharged with the following honors: Good Conduct medal, Korean Survivor Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the China Service medal. After being discharged from the Navy, Emile went to work for the South Central Bell Company from which he retired after 40 years of Service. Emile loved spending time with his grandchildren and working in the yard mowing the lawn. Emile is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Achee Husser and their 3 children and their families: Daphne Missuraca of Mandeville, Thomas Jr and Virene Husser of Folsom, and Lisa and Michael LoCicero of Ponchatoula.
