Ernest J. Hutcheson, 76 years old, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on April 4, 1935, in Madisonville, having lived in Ponchatoula for the past 55 years. Mr. Hutcheson was retired after 27 years as a Deputy Marshal with the City of Hammond. Surviving are his children, Robert James Hutcheson, Cynthia Pritchard, and Josephus Earl Hutcheson; 8 grandchildren, Robert II, Justin, Katie, Brittany, Junior, Ashley, Whitney, and Tiffany; 2 great- grandchildren, Robert Michael and Jacob; brother, William Gerald Hutcheson of Covington; 2 sisters, Betty Elizabeth Badeaux and Jane Johnston of Covington. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Thera Harper Hutcheson; a son, William Charles Hutcheson; father, Francis Earl Hutcheson; mother, Margery Roberts Hutcheson; 2 sisters, Margaret Norsworthy and Patsy Strahan. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 after 8:00 am until services begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery. She was 67, born Thursday, Aug. 10, 1939, in Wadesboro. She was the daughter of the late Charles Willard Harper and the late Sally Taylor Harper. She retired from the food service department with the Tangipahoa Parish school system with many years of service. Surviving are her husband, Ernest J. Hutcheson; two sons, Robert Hutcheson and Earl Hutcheson; daughter, Cynthia H. Pritchard; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; stepmother, Josephine Harper; sister, Gail Todora; and three brothers, Celvia, Gary and Merlin Harper. Preceded in death by her son, William Charles Hutcheson; sister, Ollie Drude; and an infant brother.
