Laura was born on Thursday, May 17, 1928, in New Orleans. Lou loved music and enjoyed singing. She was known as Louisiana Lou when she sang with the Starlight Ramblers in the '50's. A life time devout Catholic, Lou was a longtime member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Algiers where she sang in ministry with her family for 10 years. She was a professed member of Secular Franciscan Order for 31 years and has been a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Parish in Tickfaw, LA for the past 5 years. Lou enjoyed traveling (but not camping even though she camped for 40 years). Among her favorite destinations were the Grand Tetons in Wyoming and traveling in Mexico. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (and eating Mint Dreams). Surviving are husband of 63 years, Thomas Elton Isbell Jr., daughter & son-in-law, Mary Beth Roy and Robert Roy, sons, Thomas Elton Isbell III (Rebecca), Dennis Keith Isbell, Patrick Allen Isbell, Kevin James Isbell (Trish), Matthew Joseph Isbell (Beth) and Adam John Isbell (My), sisters, Patricia Webb Speaker and Dora Maude Garnier, also survived by 20 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents, Patrick Duvall and Abbis Chaisson Duvall. Friends were received Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw. Services were held at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Thursday, at 11:00 am, with Cayet Mangiaracina officiating. Interment followed in the Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery.
