He was 76, a native of Lake Charles and a resident of Tangipahoa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday. Graveside service at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Tickfaw, at 1 p.m. Thursday. Survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Tullos Istre, Tangipahoa; seven children, three brothers and three sisters. She was born on Saturday, July 30, 1938, in Belzoni, Miss., daughter of the late Burtis "Pop" Tullos and the late Janie "Maw" Tullos. Surviving are daughter & son-in-law, Mary "Dianne" and Dino Bowers, daughter, Kathy E. Mizell, son & daughter-in-law, Walter A. and Tracy King Jr., 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband, Alfred Istre, daughter, Carolyn King, brothers, Samuel Tullos, John Tullos, Rufus Lee Tullos and Curtis Tullos. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 3, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Hammond. Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Hammond, Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Tickfaw, La.
