Paula was born Jan. 6, 1966, in Clinton, to Russell Kent Jr. and Sarah McKinney Kent. She graduated from Oak Forest Academy in Amite in 1983. Paula attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, achieving a bachelor of arts degree in speech communications in December 1987. Paula was a native of Greensburg and has lived in the Round Rock/Austin area for many years. Paula's favorite hobbies were spending time with her family and friends, swapping stories and catching up with friends, as well as spending time on "Pearl," her John Deere tractor on the family property in Llano, Texas. Survivors include her husband, Carlos Isturiz of Round Rock; son, John Russell Isturiz; daughter, Mattie Cecilia Isturiz; mother, Sarah McKinney Kent of Greensburg; father and stepmother, Russell Kent Jr. and Betty Kent of Bluff Creek; sister and brother-in-law, Eudora Kent Smith and James Wylie Smith of Round Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Kent Hester and Roger Allen Hester of St. Francisville; nieces, Sarah Oneida Smith of Boulder, Colo., and Jessica Ann Hester of St. Francisville; nephew, Travis Dale Hester of St. Francisville; and many friends and extended family. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, on Wednesday, May 9, from 9 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Betty McCarver and the Rev. La Amaryllis Cotton officiating. A reception will follow the service at Blythewood Plantation in Amite. The family prefers memorials and tributes to Wonders and Worries, an organization that provides support to families coping with a chronic or life-threatening illness.
