She passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond. She lived in Springfield for the past 16 years of her life. During her last hours she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and other family members. Above all else, Geneva loved her large family. She loved to do crafts but gave away just about everything she ever completed. She could look at something and then duplicate it without a pattern. She was a seamstress and would often spend days with her sisters doing crafts or whatever together. She loved to travel. She loved her trip to New York City with Nezzie. She was a wonderful cook, especially for family and friends. She and her husband Rodney owned restaurants in Vinton and Gonzales. She was also a beautician and loved having her hair done regularly at Lynda's Hair Care in Springfield. She loved family reunions and loved being visited by her large family and her countless number of friends. You never visited "Nee" without leaving with something she made. She loved giving gifts to her family, the doctors and nurses who treated her and to total strangers. She loved to shop, especially at the dollar stores. She loved visiting yard sales and flea markets. She never missed giving gifts for birthdays, graduations, weddings and new babies. She gave all she had and finished her earthly mission and is now working in the next life. Surely there was rejoicing when she rejoined family and friends who preceded her in death. Her family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who treated her. Thanks especially to Dr. Winkler and staff and the nurses and staff at North Oaks Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Francis Ivey Jr., Marcel Lenoir Bertus and Rodney Jagneaux; two grandsons, Spurgeon Wayne Landry and David Lane Vitter; granddaughter, Katherine Lynette Blount, and an unnamed granddaughter; three sisters and five brothers-in-law, Anne Florine and Floyd Jack Baham Sr., Ella Elice and Luke Pigno Sr., Carmen Shirley Ann and Joseph Roy Latino, Lawrence Edward Randall Sr. and Clyde Bankston (Ella Elice); six brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charles "Brother" O'Neill and Lydia O'Neill, Eldridge O'Neill, Lucius Demphues O'Neill, Owen Egerton O'Neill, Charles Edward O'Neill Jr. and Hilda Starkey O'Neill, Christopher Kenneth O'Neill and Joyce Eloise Owens O'Neill (Paul); two sons-in-law, Steven Kirk Weaver and John Christy; and daughter-in-law, Connie Jacobson Bertus Tschantz.
