She was 78 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 10:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment in St. Dominic Cemetery, Husser. Survived by four daughters, Cheryl Cotrotsos, Westville, N.J., Susan Bryant, Cedar Park, Texas, Peggy Monde, Purvis, Miss., and Elizabeth Juneau, Harvey; son, Tommy Karney, Gretna; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Miller, Hattiesburg, Miss.; sister, Dora Jean Edwards, Roseland; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Karney Jr.; daughter, Gerianne K. Mills; granddaughter, Jodianne Mills; sister, Joan Wallace; and brother, Rudolph Miller. Survived by his wife, Ouita Miller Karney, Harvey; four daughters, Cheryl K. Cotrotsos, Bedford, N.J., Susie K. Bryant, Cedar Park, Texas, Peggy K. Helmstetter, Metairie, and Elizabeth K. Juneau, Harvey; a son, Tommy Karney, Gretna; a brother, Robert Karney, Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Leona Becker and Thomas Karney; and a daughter, Geriann K. Mills. He was a U.S. Army technical sergeant, having served in the Pacific during World War II.
