KEATING, ELVANS ROLAND
Elvans Roland Keating, formerly of LaPlace passed away on Friday, July 12, 
2013 in Waco, Texas, following a lengthy illness. Roland was born September 
5, 1931 in LaPlace to Louisiana Madere and Elvans George Keating. He was 
self-employed as a building contractor in St. John Parish and Hewitt, Texas 
for over forty years. He was a founding member of the LaPlace Lions Club, 
LaPlace Jaycees, Larayo and St. John Search and Rescue, as well as, a 
former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Roland leaves behind his 
daughters, Debra Ferguson (John) of Hammond, Karen Rylee (Matt) of Hammond, 
Angela Keating of LaPlace, and Lori Suski (Nathan) of Ponchatoula; son, 
Kevin Keating of LaPlace; step-son Randy Meyer (Stephanie) of Waco, Texas, 
along with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived 
by his sister, Joyce Russell; brothers, Gary Keating and Ronald Keating 
(Miriam) all of LaPlace. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant 
son, Glenn and brother Leroy Keating. Relatives and friends of the family 
are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson 
Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 
8:00 p.m., with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. The visitation 
will resume on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral 
service at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Nat Garafola and interment will follow in Bogue 
Chitto Cemetery in Mississippi. Condolences and other information are
