She was 96. Visiting after 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at Turner Chapel AME Church, 831 Turner Chapel Road, Greensburg, the Rev. Stanley J. Carter, pastor. Religious service at the church at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by Elder J.W. Stewart Jr. Interment in church cemetery. She is survived by eight sons, James, Leon, Cleon, Marshall, Emmitt, Charlie and Thomas Kendrick, all of New Orleans, and Leroy Kendrick of Houston; five daughters, Caretha Williams, Helen Cornelius and Carry "Toney" Melancon, all of New Orleans, and Creola K. Hurst and Bobbie Thomas, both of Greensburg; 64 grandchildren including Cassandra Marie Kendrick of Greensburg; 108 great-grandchildren; 74 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Ella B. Kendrick of New Orleans; a sister-in-law, Minnie Kendrick of Amite; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ebenizer and Eliza James; two sons, John and Hollis Kendrick; a daughter, Annie K. Berry; four sisters; two brothers; four grandchildren, Santee Berry Jr., Marvin Cornelius, Clyde Williams Jr. and Charlotte K. She was a native of New Orleans and a member of South Bossier Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. H.L. Kendrick Jr. of Bossier City; one son, Greg Kendrick of Bossier City; two daughters, Debra Shane of Bossier City and Patty Schwartz of Ponchatoula; three sisters, Rachel Bardwell, Cleo Stanga and Nell Stanga, all of Ponchatoula; two brothers, John and Richard Stanga, both of Ponchatoula; and four grandchildren.
