Survivors include her daughter, Lela Mae Sibley of Livingston; a brother, Edgar Ellis Bailey of Hammond; three sisters, Frances Toney of Folsom, Erma Harper of Loranger and Verna Hoover of Hammond; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, Carl Kennard, preceded her in death as did a sister, Beatrice Holliday; a brother, Pierce Bailey; and a great-grandson. Visitation will be at Geisler Funeral Home in Hammond on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 6 p.m. until 9. Visitation will be at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, today from 11 a.m. until the funeral at 2 p.m. with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 11/15/2005 KENNARD, JOSEPH LEE A former resident of St. Amant for 31 years and a five-year resident of Denham Springs, he died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 69 and a native of Hammond. He was retired from Scientific Systems and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Visitation was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Monday, Nov. 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Mike Dubreuil and the Rev. Mark Carol. Interment in Palmetto Cemetery in Walker. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary M. Kennard, Denham Springs; four children, Denny Lee Kennard and wife Wendy, Denham Springs, Cheri Wood and husband Frank, Jonesboro, Lynn Prejean and husband Timmy, St. Amant, and Derek Joseph Kennard and wife Laura, Jonesboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace "Dee" and Jerry Sibley and Mary Lee and Jerry Redden; eight grandchildren, Jessica Harris and husband Corey, Nicholas Kennard, Brandon and Aaron Faulkner, Rachel and Craig Wood, and Dawson and Gracie Kennard; four stepgrandchildren, Trevor, Trey and Leslie Prejean and Cecilia Kennard; an expected great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ventress Lee and Mary Graziano Kennard. He was of the Catholic faith and loved fishing and coaching baseball.
