She was 97 and a resident of Baton Rouge. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Killebrew, and daughter of Emmet S. Lockett and Ella Gertrude Harlan, who were of Canton, Miss. Rosamond was born in Grenada, Miss., graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, Miss., Delta State College, and the University of Southern Mississippi and did further graduate studies at LSU. During World War II, she was an agent with the U.S. Special Intelligence Service, and was involved in anti-Nazi operations in Central and South America. During the early years of her professional life, she did conservation work as an ornithologist and horticulturist with E.A. McIlhenny at Avery Island. Later in her career, she was head of the science department at Biloxi Municipal School System, and was appointed to the teaching and research faculty at LSU where she was employed at the Nuclear Science Center, and the Harry D. Wilson Laboratory. While at LSU, she attained the rank of Assistant Professor, and was a guest researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn. She was a member of several academic and professional societies including Alpha Psi Omega, National Theatre Honor Society, Gamma Sigma Delta, Agricultural Science Society, Beta Mu Kappa, Mathematics Honor Society, Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society and the American Association of University Professors. Survived by her children, Dr. Charles J. Killebrew and wife Winnie Hayman Killebrew, Denham Springs, Linnella D. Garrett and husband F. Randall Garrett, Baton Rouge, Regina Killebrew, Portland, Ore., Cynthia Shapiro, Ponchatoula, and Alfred Shapiro and wife Kristina, Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Richard Carl Kuhlmann Jr. and wife Edith, Phoenix, Derek Harlan Killebrew, Alyssa D. Killebrew, Ashley D' Antoni Wegmann and husband Joseph A. Wegmann, all of Baton Rouge, Keith W. Buchert, Houston, and Kevin T. Buchert, Phoenix, Emily Winfield Garrett, Dallas, and John Taylor Garrett, New Orleans; and six great-grandchildren, Kandice Leigh Kuhlmann, Brittanie Elyse Kuhlmann, Nicholas Kole Kuhlmann, her namesake, Rosamond Aaliyah Richelle Kuhlmann, and twins Richard Carlos and Richardo Carl Kuhlmann. Visitation for family and friends at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Donald Tabb.
