She was the daughter of Margaret Jane Perkins Greenhill and James Edward Greenhill. Bertie Jane was preceded in death by her father; stepfather, William Richard Hellmers; mother; and sister, Linda Ann Greenhill Simms. Bertie Jane leaves here John Herbert Kilpatrick, her husband of 59 years; three sons, John Stephen Kilpatrick, his wife, Elaine, and their two daughters, Morgan and Christina, of Shreveport, James David Kilpatrick, residing abroad, and Richard Ross Perkins Kilpatrick, and his wife, Kathleen, of Denham Springs. With Bertie Jane now are all her cherished dogs - most assuredly Samuel and little Pete Block. Forever missed here below, Bertie Jane now rests in ineffable peace with God and those above. Before her death, Mrs. Kilpatrick requested that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to either of the following: The Humane Society, Department GABHGP, 2100 L St. NW, Washington, DC 20037 or the Doris Day Animal League, 227 Massachusetts Ave. NE, Suite 100, P.O. Box 96084, Washington, DC 20090-6084. A brief graveside service for relatives and close friends will be held at the old Amite Cemetery, Amite, on Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Dennis Walker of Amite First Baptist Church. A viewing will be held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 3/17/2007 KILPATRICK, JOAN "DEE-DEE" A resident of Amite and a native of Baton Rouge, she died Friday, March 9, 2007, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was 62. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite on Saturday, March 17, at 10 a.m. As a graduate of LSU with a master's degree in business administration, her biggest wish in lieu of entombment was to have her body donated to science at LSU Medical School. Go Tigers! She is survived by her husband, Frank Kilpatrick; two daughters, Betsy D. Garrety and Brenda D. Sommers; a son, Brad A. Didier; three grandchildren, Bryon L. Garrety, Shannon B. Garrety and Allison H. Sommers; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara D. Sandridge; her parents, Bobby and Narcille Gauthier; and her sister, Carol Durand. Command Sergeant Major Maurice W. Kilpatrick U.S. Army Retired passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the age of 76. Loving husband of Mavis Gervais Kilpatrick. Father of Rebecca Anne Darby. Son of the late Selma Kampff Kilpatrick and Ellsworth Kilpatrick. Brother of the late Delores Jones and Cynthia Lowell. Brother-in-law of Forest Gervais, Earl Gervais, Wesley Gervais, Garret Gervais, and Dianne Gervais Cheramie and the late Charles M. Gervais, Henry Gervais, James Gervais, and Walter Gervais. Uncle to 20 nephews and 10 nieces. He joined the Army in 1950, after basic training was deployed to the Korean War and the VietNam War. His tour of duties were Fort Hood, Texas, Germany, Fort Dix, New Jersey, Korea, Panama Canal Zone, Fort Benning Georgia, Fort Lewis Washington, Fort Sherian Illinois, Fort Polk Louisiana. Retired in 1980 from the U.S. Army. Lived in Hammond, Louisiana for 27 years, moved to Pearl River, Louisiana in November 2008. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 1:30 PM at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA.
