Clarence J. Kinchen entered this life on July 22,1932 and went to be with His Lord on May 22, 2008. He is 75 and a native and resident of Tickfaw. Mr. Kinchen was a lifelong carpenter and passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a veteran in the US Army and a pipeline installer with the 40th Engineering Pipeline Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rena and Wilton Kinchen. He is survived by his loving wife Pat Kinchen, 3 Step-Children, Ashley, Michael, and Angel; one brother, Arnold Kinchen, Kenner. Mr. Kinchen will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his faithfulness to his family and friends, and most of all, his love for God. He attended New Life Baptist Church in Tickfaw, La. He will be forever dearly missed by his loving wife. Her nieces and nephews were inspired by her love as a mother-like aunt. Ms. Dot was a registered nurse with the Women's Army Corps during World War II with the rank of second lieutenant. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 11/19/2009 KINCHEN, GRACE LOUISE WAGNER Grace Louise Wagner Kinchen, beloved mother, and grandmother from Albany, passed away in Oklahoma City on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at the age of 98. Grace was born in Livingston Parish on Jan. 29, 1911, to Charles Simpson Wagner and Mary Ann Johnson Wagner. She and her twin were born into a very large family and spent their early years on their Papa's farm. At about the age of 4, they lost her mother to tuberculosis, then spent their older childhood years in a children's home in New Orleans. Grace graduated as valedictorian from Albany High School in 1930. She was married to David T. Kinchen for 59 years from May 23, 1934, until his passing in February of 1993. Together they survived the Great Depression and made their living in 17 different states in her lifetime, some more than once. Grace supported and cared for her husband and shared with him in creating a legacy for future generations. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, thinking always of her family, her "kin." She was generous to all and doted over her grandchildren. She had a ready smile and laughed often. Grace is survived by her loving daughter, Katherine Ann and son-in-law Eddie Bobo, of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Christopher Bobo and wife Kathy, of Austin, Texas, Michael Bobo and wife Pepper, of Loudon, Tenn., and Janet Bobo Baker and husband Les, of Grapevine, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Rheagan, Ryan, Jeremiah, David, Nathaniel and Daniel. Mrs. Kinchen was preceded in death by her husband, David T. Kinchen; and all her brothers and sisters, including her twin, Frances Marie Neal, who was of Hammond. Funeral proceedings will be held at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church in Albany on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. and will be officiated by Joe Wiggins. Pallbearers include Chris Bobo, Mike Bobo, Les Baker, Roy Neal, Grady Wagner and Jonathan Laughery. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Bobo, Jeremiah Baker, David Bobo and Nathaniel Baker. Mr. Ivy M. Kinchen, 79, of Albany, died Friday, July 1, 2011, in Hammond Nursing Home. He was born July 27, 1931, in rural Independence. He was a millwright for more than 30 years with Local 720, a surveyor, seismographer, poultry farmer, bus driver, dump truck owner and grocery store owner/operator for more than 25 years. Mr. Kinchen was a veteran of the Korean War. He entered the service on Jan. 21, 1952, in Korea on Dec. 24, 1953, and was honorably discharged Jan. 23, 1954. He was also a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Albany. Surviving are a son and daughter- in-law, Randolph Matthew Kinchen and Lanette Johnson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Sue Deslatte and Kenny Deslatte and Belinda Faye Amerson and Jerry Amerson; companion, Shirley LeJeune; seven grand- children, Justin Colt Slade, Laramie Matthew Louis Kinchen, Jessica Raine Slade Saucier, Dakota Cheyanne Kinchen, Colin Lee Amerson, Parker Matthew Amerson and and Clara Grace Amerson; a great-grandchild, Chance Edward Slade; and five siblings, Hollis C. Kinchen, Albert S. Kinchen, Fannie Kinchen Jordon, Margie Kinchen Averett and Bruce C. Kinchen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Leonard Kinchen; three siblings, Benjamin J. Kinchen, Ivy Dean Kinchen and Monelle Kinchen Bankston; and parents, Ivy Benjamin and Fannie Gates Kinchen. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, special friend and devoted neighbor to everyone. He didn't know how to say "no". He was a successful provider for his family. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and provided a good example for them to follow.
