Jacob Frederick Kirsch, Jr., 70 years old of Ponchatoula, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, August 16, 1939, in New Orleans. He was a retired fire fighter after 25 years of service with the New Orleans Fire Department. Mr. Kirsch was an avid hunter and he was known to his family as "Dear Old Dad". Surviving are his wife, Patricia Kirsch; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Rebecca Kirsch and Scotty Luther, Rachel Kirsch and Wayne Methvin, and Gretchen Kirsch and Frank Cook; 7 grandchildren, Shelby and Savanna Luther, Trinity and Kirschten Methvin, Melinda, Norman and Brittany Cook. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frieda Burg and Jacob Frederick Kirsch, Sr.; and brother, Edmund J. Ezell. Friends will be received at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Friday, November 20, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. She was 86 and a native of Hammond. Visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 601 N. Oak Street, Hammond, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Rosalie Bamber and Mary Ann and Dolly Fugarino, all of Baton Rouge; a son, Harry Basso and wife Donna of Denham Springs; a longtime companion, Henry D.
