He was 58, born on March 6, 1949, and was raised in New Orleans. He graduated from St. Stanislaus High School, Bay St. Louis, Miss., in 1968, attended the University of Texas and received a bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans in 1982. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. He was employed by LSU as lab coordinator in the Faculty Excellence Lab. He was assistant Scoutmaster and merit badge counselor with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 100 of Ponchatoula for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Kelly Koch; two devoted sons, Edward Gaulbert Koch IV, who is married to Amy Catherine Barrilleaux Koch, and Daniel Kelly Koch; and a devoted daughter, Mary Lee Koch, all of Ponchatoula. Mr. Koch is also survived by his mother, Thelma Agerton Koch of Pearl River; seven brothers and six sisters-in-law, Stephen A. and Patricia Koch of Pearl River, Robert Ernest Koch of Metairie, Richard Martin Koch and Marcia Koch of New Orleans, Michael Reymond Koch and Jean Koch of Pearl River, William John Koch and Mary Koch of Springfield, Christopher Kenneth Koch and Darlene Koch of Metairie, and Douglas Daniel Koch of Slidell. He is survived by a sister, Thelma K. and husband Jim Brown of Houston; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Service will be on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. at Bedico Baptist Church, 28156 La. 22, Ponchatoula, (985) 845-3417.
