Mr. Freddie F. "Teddy" Kraft, 76 years old of Ponchatoula, LA, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on Monday, November 26, 1934, in Ponchatoula, LA, son of the late Fritz Paul and Hazel Marsalis Kraft. He was a commercial fisherman all his life, and fished for MiddendorfÕs for over 42 years. Mr. Kraft was a US Army Veteran and an avid farmer. He loved to grow tomatoes and strawberries. Teddy leaves behind many wonderful family members, friends, neighbors and his little dog Dixie who loved him dearly. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Patricia "Patsy" Keaghey Kraft, daughter, Lisa Kraft, son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Angela Kraft, and his grandchildren, Hannah and Evan Kraft. He is preceded in death by his sister, Helen K. Settoon. Friends will be received on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday, April 23, 2011, from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, at 10:00 am, with Rev. Jackie Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Wetmore Cemetery Ponchatoula, LA. As an enterprising 9-year-old, he started his own paper route. After losing his right foot in a streetcar accident, he then sold papers on crutches. And as he told the story, "His sales really zoomed!" He graduated from Delgado Trade School. Gus was a retired linotype operator and worked for the Morning Advocate during World War II, where he set the type for the A Bomb drop on Hiroshima. He was the husband of the late Thelma Wilson Kraft, son of the late Zoah A. Lamphier Kraft and Henry G. Kraft, brother of the late Anna Belle Havens, Evelyn Wattie, Zoah Dawn Defourneaux and Alfred Kraft, who were all of New Orleans. Survived by his sons, Marvin Kraft and Donald Kraft and wife Dianne L.; grandsons, Scott T. Kraft and wife Adrienne, of Ponchatoula, and Billy T. Long and wife Corinne, of Baton Rouge; grand- daughter, Phyllis K. Hough and husband William, of Dallas; and great- grandchildren, Lance Kraft, Sadie Kraft, Jordan Long and Katie Long. He married the love of his life, Thelma, in 1934 at First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, where they were members until they died. He was a kind and loving husband and father. He died in Baton Rouge on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, just a week before his 99th birthday. "RED" John J. "Red" Kraft Jr. passed into the arms of his Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. Born Feb. 27, 1932, in Wadesboro, he was a lifelong resident of Ponchatoula. He was a 1950 graduate of Ponchatoula High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an avid sportsman and conservationist, a member of Triangle T Sportsman League, Hunters Against Poachers, W&R Hunting Club and the American Legion. He also was a city league coach for baseball and football for many years and a follower of this league until his death. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula, he was retired from Shell Oil at Norco. Preceded in death by his parents John J. Kraft Sr. and Eva Arceneaux Ryan; and a brother Charles E. "Dago" Kraft. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Bonicard Kraft; two sons, John J. Kraft III and wife Shane Watson Kraft and Jeffrey E. Kraft and wife Robin Schum Kraft, all of Ponchatoula; a daughter, Glynis Kraft Haik and husband John Haik, of Mobile, Ala.; eight loving grandchildren, Brittani Kraft Emmons, Mallory Kraft, John J. "Jake" Kraft IV and Jebadiah "Jeb" Kraft, all of Ponchatoula, and Ryan, Reagan, Keegan and Logan Haik, all of Mobile; two half brothers, James W. "Slippery" Ryan Jr. and Alvin C. "Punkin" Ryan, both of Ponchatoula; and a half sister, Veronica "Ronnie" Ryan Souza, of Tracy, Calif.
