Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, LA KREKO, FRANKLIN "SONNY" Age 83, a native of Albany and resident of Hammond, Sonny passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was retired from the Louisiana Highway Department and was a parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany. Sonny served in the U.S. Navy, during the North/South Korean Conflict. He was an avid sports fan and loved fishing and gardening. Sonny was a loving and devoted husband of 51 years to Katherine A. Kreko. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Kreko and wife Shirley, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Sonny in death were his parents, Paul and Justina Nagy Kreko; two sisters, Mary Jane Kreko Leonard and Justina Kreko Thompson; two brothers, Robert (Bob) Kreko and Joseph Kreko; honorary daughter, Mary Ann Aranyosi. Private services were held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Hammond. Entombment followed in Rose Memorial Mausoleum. She was 72, a native of Hungary and a resident of Albany. Survivors include her husband, Paul Kreko Sr.; four sons, Joseph and Paul R. Kreko, both of Albany, Jimmy E. Kreko of Louisville, Ky., and Franklin Kreko of Hammond; two daughters, Mrs. R.H. Leonard of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. B.E. Thompson of Albany; two sisters, Mrs. H.G. Barnes of Mission, Tex., and Mrs. Mary Pearce of Crestline, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren.
