He was a native of Albany and a 1997 graduate of Albany High School. Survivors include his parents, Dennis Earl and Dorothy Hess Kropog, Albany; two brothers, Benjamin Kropog, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jacob Kropog, Abilene, Texas; and grandparents, Joseph W. and Mary Bayus Kropog, Nannette Merrill Hess, all of Albany. His grandfather, Benjamin Hess, preceded him in death. Visitation will at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Sunday from 6 until 9 p.m. with a 7 vigil prayer service and Monday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with the funeral at 10 at St. Margaret Catholic Church Cemetery, Albany. Owner and operator of Johnny's Conoco Service Station, Hammond, for 40 years, he died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 73 and a native and resident of Albany. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, with vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Albany, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Monsignor Leo Guillot. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by his wife, Helen Koles Kropog, Albany; three sons, John P. Kropog Jr., Hammond, and Darrell W. Kropog Sr. and Kenneth L. Kropog Sr., both of Albany; four brothers, Steve Kropog, San Francisco, Joe Kropog, Albany, and Bill and Alex Kropog, both of Springfield; three sisters, Elizabeth Kelly, Troy, Ala., Pauline Martin Frisbee, Springfield, and Helen Gottschalk, Jackson, Miss.; and six grandchildren. Springfield-William "Bill" Kropog Sr., 70, died Friday at his home. A native of Springfield and former longtime resident of Bogalus, he worked at the Bogalusa Paper Mill for almost 30 years where he retired as the technical director. He was a longtime member of the Annunciation Catholic Church and School, where he served as it's first school board president, and was also a longtime active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1819, in Bogalusa, where he served as Grand Knight. Survivors include his wife, Barbara E. Kropog of Springfield; two sons, William Kropog Jr. of Covington and Jean Christopher M. Kropog of Springfield; a daughter, Michelle Elizabeth K. Duhe of Mandeville; three brothers, Steve Kropog of San Francisco, CA, Joseph Kropog of Albany and Alex Kropog of Springfield; three sisters, Elizabeth Kelly of Troy, AL, Pauline Frisbie of Springfield, and Helen Gottchalk of Goodbee; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Elizabeth Juhasz Kropog; three brothers, Mike, John Paul and George Kropog. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 10 and on Monday from 8 a.m. until 10:30. Religious services will start at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany with Monsignor Leo Guillot officiating.
