She was 77. She is survived by three daughters, Joan Scalia Penton of Hammond, Sue Bright McCloud of Tickfaw and Tammy Pfister of Marton, Ill.; three sons, Hershel Kysar of Port Vincent, Danny Kysar of Gonzales and Dennis Kysar of Shreveport; two sisters, Velma Everett of Addison and Mattie Shaw of Cullman, Ala.; brother, Howard Gardner of Cullman; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Harvey Gardener and Lula Suddeth Gardener; ex-husband, Roy Eugene Kysar; three sisters, Dorothy Allred, Dodie Hood and Fannie Rose Howell; and five brothers, Henry, Edward, Dallas, James and Martin Gardener. Erika was 24 years old, born Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1981, in Hammond. She was a student at Southeastern Louisiana University, nearing graduation in marketing, and was employed at PetCo in Baton Rouge. Surviving are her father, David Lee Kysar; mother, Delories Paulette Waldrop; stepmother, Anne L. Kysar; sister, Michele Lynn Kysar; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Pauline Waldrop; paternal grandparents, Vernon and Elizabeth Kysar; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Gladys Waldrop, Ellis and Pearl Johnson, Dewey and Katie Kysar, and Belva Amyett and Stanley Fletcher. She was born on Sunday, December 5, 1954 in Independence, Louisiana. Surviving are her 2 sons, Brian Daniel, Bill Kysar; 2 daughters, Catherine Kysar, Melynda Kysar; 5 grandchildren, Eilene Kysar, Theresa Daniel, Cisco Kysar, Joseph Daniel, Rosa Chavez; mother, Barbara Holmes; 2 brothers, Roy Yawn Jr. and Curtiss Yawn. He was born in Amite on Thursday, Oct. 23, 1919, son of the late Dewey Kysar and Catherine Everett Kysar. Mr. Kysar served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a truck driver in the food and beverage industry before becoming a director of sewerage for District 6 in Livingston Parish. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Fletcher Kysar; two daughters, Barbara Ann Kysar and Betty Lou Bergeron; three sons, David, Dewey and Vernon Eugene Kysar; eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Roy and Robert Kysar; and a granddaughter, Erika Leigh Kysar. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes on Friday from 8 a.m. until service in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev.
