Jesse P. Lagarde Attorney native of New Orleans and resident of Amite for the past 40 years with the Law firm of Edwards and Lagarge passed away July 19, 2006 at The Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacomb, La., of natural causes. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Louisiana State University Baton Rouge, where he maintained a private law practice before moving to Amite. He served as First Assistant District Attorney and headed the Grand Jury for the Parish of Tangipahoa and served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Virginia Burton Lagarde; daughter, Catherine Nacole Lagarde, son Jesse Paul Edward Edwin Joseph Lagarde; step-son, Artie Compton; step-daughter, Kerry Compton LeTard; and step-son-in-law, Danny LeTard; grandchildren, Sarah Virginia LeTard, Elizabeth Grace LeTard and Viviane Claire Hains; brother, Calvin Adam Lagarde Sr.; and sister-in-law, Dot Lagarde. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Ann Snell; brother, Edwin J. Lagarde and parents, Edwin Joseph and Enola Marie Foret Lagarde. Visitation was held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite and funeral mass was held at St. Helena Catholic Church where he was a member. Father Joseph Camelleri officiated at the mass, John Bel Edwards read from the Bible Book church verses and the Reverend Samuel Richardson spoke many kind words about his long time friend Jesse. Burial was in Rose Memorial Cemetery, Hammond. Attending pall bearers were Andy Anderson, Danny Lavell LeTard, Don Paul Lagarde, Calvin Adam Lagard Sr., Edward Richard Burton and Carvin Adam Lagarde Jr. ***************************************************************************
