"BIG JOHN" John Henry "Big John" LaGrange Sr. died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at his home in Springfield. He was 67, born on Sunday, June 19, 1938, in New Orleans. He was a member of JFK Council 2952, past grand knight and district deputy. He worked as a sales representative for T.H. Burt and Sons. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Edie Farrell LaGrange of Springfield; son, John LaGrange Jr. and wife Kim of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Laurie LaGrange of Kenner and Gwen Andrews and husband Matt of San Antonio; two grandsons, Billy LaGrange of Okinawa, Japan, and Justin Andrews of Prairieville; granddaughter, Christin Andrews of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Robert "Bob" LaGrange of Kenner and Charles "Chucky" LaGrange of Natchitoches; three sisters, Patricia Fouts of Mandeville, Eleanor Forschler of Metairie and Susan Bordelon of Abita Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand LaGrange and Irene Naquin LaGrange; and brother, Michael LaGrange. Friends were received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 5, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Religious service will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany on Monday at 1 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Monsignor Leo Guillot. Interment in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to North Oaks Hospice Foundation.
