He was a native of New Orleans. He is survived by two brothers, Norman "Railroad" Wm. Landwehr, Ponchatoula, Robert Douglas Landwehr, Kirbyville, Texas; two sisters, Jean Marie Prybyla, Beaumont, Texas, Jeaneette Theresa Landwehr, Pineville; and a half-sister, Betty June, Chalmette. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Cecelia Coumes Landwehr; two brothers, Eugene and Lawrence J. Landwehr; and two sisters, Lillian Jensen and Joan Landwehr. Visitation will be Monday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral at 11. Burial will be in Ponchatoula Cemetery. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 2/12/2003 LANDWEHR, JOSEPH CLARKSON "JOE" Died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Ochsner Medical Center, Jefferson. He was 74, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Amite. He was a graduate of AlceÎ Fortier High School and Tulane University College of Engineering. He earned a master's degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He served as a U.S. Navy lieutenant during the Korean War on the USS Seboney. During his career he worked for Monsanto Commercial Solvents Corp., International Minerals and Chemical Corp. and was director of engineering for Pitman Moore Inc. when he retired in 1993. He and his wife lived in Amite for the past 10 years, where he was an active member of the Amite-Arcola Presbyterian Church and Rotary International. He was a founder of the Amite City Museum, where he contributed his love for history by creating a variety of exhibits on local history. He is survived by his widow, Flora Talmage Landwehr, Amite; four children, Joseph Clarkson Landwehr Jr., Chicago, Jane Landwehr Thurston, Worthington, Ohio, and Goyn Mann Landwehr and Louisa Elliott Landwehr, both of Amite; four grandchildren; two brothers, George Landwehr, Covington, and Douglas Landwehr, Highlands, N.C. Memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Amite-Arcola Presbyterian Church, 501 Walnut St., Amite.
