Age 74 and a resident of Ponchatoula, Alex passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at his residence. He was an avid amateur radio operator ÒK5EEBÓ, active with RACES net, past director of Ponchatoula Civil Defense. Alex leaves behind his wife, Anne Salzer; daughters, Cindy Anne Langer & Tessie Langer Kraemer, along with grandchildren, Nick Langer and Jay Langer, Jensen Kraemer and Dustin Kraemer; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Harmonie Langer and one on the way. Preceding Alex in death were his parents, Alexander, Sr. and Gladys Austin Langer. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the religious services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Ponchatoula, on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The family request visiting hours be observed from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service time. She was 82 and a native of Ponchatoula. Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 2 p.m., Friday, conducted by the Rev. Matthew Wohlfarth. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery. Survived by a son, Alex J. Langer Jr., Ponchatoula; two granddaughters, Cynthia Anne Langer Nicks, Largo, Fla., and Teresa Mae Langer Kraemer, Ponchatoula; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ollie A.
