She was 84 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Thursday, May 22, from 2 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 3:30 p.m., with the Rev. Thomas P. Duhé, celebrant. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Todd Mullis, of Hammond; son, Mike Laran, of Greenwell Springs; sister, Grace Ritrovato, of Norristown, Pa.; two grandchildren, Caitlyn Marie Mullis and Jacob Andrew Mullis, both of Hammond; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Roy Joseph Laran; parents, Jack A. and Lena Pizzillo Michelli; brother, Andrew J. Michelli; and sister, Anna M. Nauta. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, where she was very active in the RCIA and RENEW programs, was inducted into the St. Alphonsus Hall of Fame in 1999 and had worked for many years with CYO in the Baton Rouge area. As per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Missionaries of Charity to feed the poor or to a favorite charity.
