James Funeral Home, Hammond, until 4 p.m. for Ellis Laurant, 83, who died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Hammond. Survivors include one sister, Irene Dederenx of DeLisle, Miss.; two brothers, James Laurant of Ponchatoula, and Manuel Laurant of New Orleans. His parents, four sisters, Pearline Barze, Rita Peterson, Arthemia Laurant and Margaret Barze; and three brothers, Mose, Jeff and Julius Laurant, preceded him in death. The Rev. David Smith will conduct the funeral Friday at noon at the funeral home.
