He was born in Ozark Missouri. He was a retired Nursing home administrator. Surviving are grandchild and caregiver, Heather Leigh; 2 sons, Charles Briggs and Col. Darryl Briggs; brothers, Kenneth, David, Richard and Frankie Leigh; step-sister, Sharon Bilyee; grandchildren, Haleigh, Rose, Shelby, Savannah, Sierra and Jackson Briggs; great-grandchild, Matthew Tarver. He is preceded in death by wife; Dolores Briggs, parents; Millard Leigh and Argie Watts, brothers; Jimmy and William Leigh, sister; Patricia Tirres, step-mother; Ruth Leigh. Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Louisiana. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Visitation and funeral will also be held at Greenlawn South Funeral Home, in Springfield, Missouri, on Monday 11-5 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
