SR. New Roads - Clarence E. Lindsly Sr., 79, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000. He was the former owner of Lindsly's Furniture and Refinishing, New Roads, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Vernice Major Lindsly, New Orleans; three daughters, Susan Lindsly, Slaughter, Sylvia Lindsly Watson, Kentwood, Veronica Lindsly Moore, Zachary; son, Clarence E. Lindsly Jr., New Roads; four sisters, Ann Hannaman, Alice Singleton and Agnes Normand, all of Baton Rouge, Clara D'Avy, Opelousas; brother, Lewis Lindsly Jr., New Roads; four grand- children, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Felix "Brother" Lindsly Jr., preceded him in death. Visitation will be at Niland's Funeral Home, New Roads, Saturday from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. The Rev. She was a resident of Slaughter and former native and resident of New Roads. She was a homemaker, seamstress and bookkeeper in her family owned business of Lindsly's Upholstery and Refinishing. Msgr. Robert Berggreen, celebrant. Interment in St. Frances Cabrini Cemetery, Livonia. Survived by daughters, Susan Lindsly of Slaughter; Sylvia L. Watson and husband Jim of Kentwood; Veronica Lindsly and husband Jeff Moore of Slaughter; a son, Clarence Lindsly, Jr. and friend Susan Scott of New Roads; Grandchildren, Angie Livingston and husband Curt of Zachary; Jeremiah Watson of Kentwood; Alecia Lindsly and Rachel Lindsly, both of Baton Rouge; Step grandchildren, Joseph Moore and Jonathan Moore. Great grandchildren, Olivia Livingston, Tanner Livingston, Noah Claire Watson and Willo Lindsly. Step great-grandchildren, Payton Moore, Levi Moore and J.T. Moore.
