Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Sunday, Feb. 13, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial followed in Sand Hill Cemetery. Always there for others, even at the expense of her own health, the fact was that she could be counted on to help anyone with any situation, no matter how desperate or difficult. She gave 100 percent to all, completely and totally, and that is a rare quality indeed. Family values, education, and being fair yet firm when she needed to be, her zest for life and all it had to offer was her oyster. She loved to laugh, and her laugh was contagious. But more than life itself, she loved and adored her beautiful, sweet, Stephanie, Kristian and Hank. They were the basis of her being, and she instilled in all of them how very much she loved them and wanted a good life for them without perhaps so many of the struggles she herself had to endure. She was their greatest fan, and they were hers. She knew how to bring out the best in her students, and she challenged them to reach for the stars to be the very best they could be, for she knew that the ticket to success began with education. Her legacy of excellence as a teacher in the Tangipahoa Parish School System included Hammond Eastside and Hammond Junior High, where she spent 12 years, respectively. Though her teaching methods were perhaps sometimes a bit unorthodox, her legacy will hopefully live on with all of the love and success she derived from doing it "her way." What made her job so special were the people with whom she spent so much time, those being each and every one of her students and the wonderful teachers with whom she worked and considered to be her friends over the years. With everyone's lives she touched, we will all be better for the pleasure of having Henrietta in our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations in her memory to be sent to the Hammond Junior High School Choir. ***************************************************************************
