She was 94, born Saturday, April 8, 1911, in Independence, the daughter of the late Neal Bennett and Ouida Bennett Bennett. She was the owner and operator of a grocery store in Independence. Surviving are three sons, Arvel Rainey of Abita Springs, Edward Rainey of Lacombe and Luther Rainey of Kentucky; daughter, Catherine Fitzgerald of Glynn; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Rainey; second husband, Bud Luper; daughter, Mary Cittadino; sisters, Lucille Stafford and Eunice Dufrene; and brothers, Rufus, Clarence and William Bennett. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home chapel in Hammond on Friday, Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. until service at noon, with the Rev. Warren Heck officiating.
