Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, April 19, from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ken Carroll. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Emile is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Hilda Barr Lusted; two sons and daughters-in-law, John A. and Cathie V. Lusted, Peachtree City, Ga., and Barry Emile and Dona S. Lusted, Baton Rouge; daughter and son-in-law, Hilary L. and Larry D. Cheek, Reno, Nev.; niece, Catherine Magee Cannon, Kentwood; six grandchildren, Kent C. Lusted, Portland, Ore., Scott A. Lusted, Knoxville, Tenn., Heather M. Cheek and Holly M. Cheek, both of Reno, and Lori M. Lusted and Luke A. Lusted, both of Baton Rouge; and a great-grandson, Daniel A. Lusted, Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his father, Llewell A. Lusted; mother, Mary Frady Lusted; sister, Pauline L. Clark; and brother, Lowell C. Lusted. Pallbearers will be Larry Cheek, Herman Dubon, Robert Hebert, Luke Lusted, Dr. Maurice Nassar Sr. and Cris Villarreal. Emile was a member of the first Istrouma High football team in 1935, and was team captain when Istrouma advanced to become the 1938 state champions. After graduating from LSU in 1943 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, he went on to become the chief engineer for Delta Tank Manufacturing Co. in Baton Rouge, and later, a contract employee for Ethyl Corp. and Exxon Co. USA, where today the heat exchanger towers he designed can be seen in the skyline. His health through the years was a challenge, but his determination and perseverance with his fitness program, as well as a wonderful medical group, helped extend his life to give him many happy years. Special thanks to Dr. Harris Lappin, Dr. David Carmouche, Dr. Eugene Berry, Dr. James Lutschg, Dr. Maurice Nassar and Dr. William Gladney. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Trygve Olsen of Hospice of Baton Rouge, and to all who gave such loving care.
