She was 83 and a native of Hammond. Visitation at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 10 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at noon Saturday, conducted by the Rev. A native of New Orleans, he was a U.S. Army pilot during World War II. He is survived by four stepdaughters, Wilma Wright of San Antonio, Faye Russell and Susan Threeton, both of Independence, and Fran Carrington of Ponchatoula; and three stepsons, Harold Core of Kirbyville, Texas, James Core of Folsom and David Core of Ponchatoula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustin and Alma Hotstream Magruder; his first wife, Jeannette Core Magruder; his second wife, Annie Core Magruder; one brother, Logan Magruder; and one sister, Betty Magruder. A graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (Relay For Life), 817 Eden Oaks Drive, Ponchatoula, LA 70454. Born 6 Nov 1888 in Coshocton County, Ohio, the only child of a well known family; attended Wesleyan University at Delaware, Ohio; came to Amite in 1908. Funeral Friday, interment in Amite Cemetery.
