She was born on Tuesday, May 26, 1925, in Hammond. Mrs. Maille was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are her 2 daughters, Gail Irene Calmes Arnone and Corlis Annette Calmes Thorn; 5 sons, William Auther "Spec" Calmes II, James Hopson Calmes, Ronnie Calmes, Dennis Joseph Calmes and Gary Alan Calmes; stepson, William Bill Calmes; sister, Sydney Barnett; brother, Mac Davis; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rod Davis and Irene Mitchell; 1st husband, William "Spec" Calmes; 2nd husband, Richard Maille; daughter, Danette Newey; sister, Pauline Davis Prichett; and 2 brothers, Philip Davis and Rodrick Davis. Friends will be received Friday, January 2, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hammond from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Ryan Cancienne officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond. He was a native of New Orleans and was retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years having served in World War II and Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Francis C. Maille; and son, Don P. Maille, Holden; brother, Joseph A. Maille, New Orleans; and two grandsons. His first wife, Klara A. Maille; and brother, Raymond J. Maille, preceded him in death.
