He was 80. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond Sunday, May 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday, May 9, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Religious service at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Tickfaw, at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Interment in Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Toni Lopez Manina of Hammond; two daughters, Barbara M. Mendez of Missouri City, Texas, and Blanch M. Brazil of Las Vegas; son, John Manina of Hammond; grandson, Troy Dantone; granddaughter, Teresa Brazil; great-grandson, Jordan Dantone; great-granddaughter, Arianna Dantone; brother, Louis Manino of Tickfaw; and five sisters, Corrine Relan and Margaret Maggio, both of Tickfaw, Mary Spitale of Chicago, Lena Giambruno of Minneapolis and Rose Tucker of Tickfaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolo and Rose Sampere Manina; and eight brothers and sisters. Mr. Manina served 20 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the military at age 37 and went to work for the Chrysler Corp. for 15 years. She was born March 16, 1916, in Tickfaw, daughter of the late Joe and Josephine Perise Fedele and wife of the late Frank Manina. Surviving are her granddaughter, Kimberly Manina of Prairieville; grandson, Kevin Manina of Hammond; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Manina of Hammond. She was preceded in death by a son, Nick Manina; two sisters, Vita Fedele Cox and Mary Fedele Shetfield; eight brothers, Bazile, John, Vincent, Joe, Sam, Tony, Dominic and Henry; and an infant brother. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday, Jan. 30, after 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw on Monday at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev.
