He was born in Folsom and was a former resident of the Glendale community near Hattiesburg, Miss. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a retired Mississippi Central and Illinois Central Railroad Co. employee. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Glendale and Fernwood Baptist Church in Gulfport. He is survived by one son, Phillip Mansfield of Perkinston, Miss.; two daughters, Joyce Weatherford of Gulfport; Marsha Kaye Mansfield of Gulfport; three brothers, Milton Mansfield, Ezell "Pete" Mansfield, both of Folsom, Harvey Mansfield of Mandeville; two sisters, Eula Reid of Folsom, and Burnett Pitts of New Castle, Texas; three grand- children, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great- step-grandchildren. Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rieman Memorial Funeral Home, state Highway 49 North, Gulfport. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m., and burial will be in Flora Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. He was born February 3, 1934 in Uneedus, son of the late Adam and Ophelia Ard Mansfield. Surviving are children Deborah Mansfield, Roxanne M. Pollard, Cheryl Mansfield, Patricia Mansfield, Joel A. Mansfield, Leggio Mansfield, Jr., and Mike Mansfield; four sisters, Geneva M. Taylor, Ernestine M. Newman, Evelyn M. McGahagin, Ordean M. Wright; and a dear friend, Anabelle White. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jayne M. Tossin and Marilyn M. Fiorello. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from 9 a.m. until the Noon Funeral Home Chapel Service.
