Religious services followed at Holy Ghost Catholic Church; interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery. He came to the U.S. from Syria 51 years ago; at one time he operated a large department store in Hammond. He quit the mercantile business 27 years ago to take up farming. He moved to Hammond 32 years ago, coming here from Franklin. He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. George Joseph of Hammond, Mrs. Ed Sadick of Seymore, Conn., Mrs. Edw. Balider of Shelton, Conn., and Mrs. D. McKinney of New Orleans; three sons, Alcide and Farris of Hammond, and Joe Mansour of Kentwood; one brother in Syria; twelve grandchildren and one great, grandchild. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Vindicator: 3/19/1954 MANSOUR, MARY SHAHEEN Mrs. Mary Shaheen Mansour, 66, passed away Wednesday at Wiginton Memorial hospital. Funeral services were Friday at Poole Funeral Home and mass at Holy Ghost Catholic church; interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery. She married Jos. M. Mansour in 1911 at Franklin; moved to Hammond in 1920. She is survived by two sons, Alcide Ellis Mansour of Hammond, and Francis Mansour of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Frances M. Joseph of Hammond, and Mrs. Margaret M. McKinney of New Orleans; five brothers, one of who is Pete Shaheem of Hammond; one sister in Zahle, Syria; four stepchildren.
