He was a retired shoreman and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Maryann Spring Maples; three daughters, Janet Luminais of Metairie, Tori Woolverton of New Orleans and Lori Ann Maples of Harahan; three stepdaughters, Melissa Bennett and Michelle Spring, both of Albany, and Edna Spring of Amite; four stepsons, Doug Spring of Chalmette, Wayne, Roddy and John Spring, all of Albany; one sister, Marie Maples Floyd of Palestine, Texas; one brother, Richard Maples of San Antonio; and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ruby Hufstedler Maples; one brother, William Maples; and one sister, Utahna Jean Maples. Visitation will be Tuesday at Geisler Funeral Home, Albany, from 10 a.m. until the the Rev. Dan Munson conducts the funeral at noon. Burial will be in Spring Cemetery, Amite. ***************************************************************************
