A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Faye passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at her daughter's home in Baton Rouge. She was a native of Tangipahoa and moved to Baton Rouge as a child where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and St. Joseph's Academy. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Faye was a homemaker and active in the school activities of all her children. She and her husband, Mitch, opened the Bread Basket Restaurant in 1970. She touched the lives of so many people who visited their cafe, as a social occasion as well as a good meal. She was missed by her many faithful customers when she retired. She died peacefully Friday morning in her own bed when her loving heart finally gave out. She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Robert Elmo Phillips and Mary Phillips; her precious mother and stepfather, Martha and Sam Michael; and two sisters, Dorothy Alleman and Jean Perry. Her husband of 50 years, Michael John Marcello, died three years ago. She will be missed by her older brother, Robert E. Phillips Jr.; and younger sister, Sonia Nosser. Her presence will especially be missed during the holidays, which for Faye was so many times of joy and happiness while being surrounded by her family. "Granny and Pops" spoiled everyone with their love and affection. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Saturday, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The Rev. Miles Walsh will preside over the services. Pallbearers will be Taylor Messenger, Mitch Marcello, Nick LeBlanc, Grant Marcello, Locke Marcello, Sal Marcello and John Warner LeBlanc. Faye is survived by five children, Tara Nolan Messenger and husband Terry, Frank Marcello and wife Elizabeth, Michael Marcello Jr., Craig Marcello and wife Virginia, and Michelle Marcello LeBlanc and husband Kirk; 22 grand- children, Taylor and wife Caroline and Tammy Messenger, Christy Richardson and husband Justin, Brittany Faye, Grant, Locke, Jack, Christopher and Anne Marie Marcello, Alexandra Marcello, Mitch, Maggie, Caroline, Sal, Joseph, Mary Patricia and David Gabriel Marcello and Nick, Grace, John Warner, Sam and Ellen LeBlanc; four great-grandchildren, Kelly and Sam Messenger and Ireland and McKenna Faye Richardson. The family also thanks Rose Netter, Regina Landry and Verda Byrd for their special love and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
