She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. Geraldine served in the U.S. Army as a nurse. Geraldine leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Merlin Jules Marmillion; two sons, Gary Merlin Marmillion and wife Pauline, Chris Paul Marmillion, along with grandchildren, Patricia Alice Marmillion, Gary Merlin Marmillion, Jr. and wife Janet, Merlin Jules Marmillion II and wife Haley; great-grandchildren, Kyle Jeffery Marmillion and Hayle Sharee Marmillion. She is also survived by her sisters, Jane Wainwright and Audrey Pechon; brother, Alvin Kenneth McMurray, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Geraldine in death were her parents, Alvin and Irene Dunn McMurray; brother, Charlie McMurray; grandparents, Henery McMurray, Margaret Vaughn, Michael F. Dunn, Hermina Blanchard Dunn. Age 92 and a longtime resident of Ponchatoula, Merlin passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his residence. He was the owner/operator of Green Thumb Nursery for 42 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII. Merlin was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 4th degree with the Knights of Columbus. He was also an agriculture teacher at Springfield High School.
